After completing his training in Mechanical Engineering with Rolls Royce Aircraft, Engine Division in Scotland he immigrated to South Africa in 1973. Since then he has specialised in the subject of Management Strategy with an emphasis towards Excellence Modelling, Continuous Improvement, Quality, Environment and Safety Management Systems. David has worked in the Military Aircraft, Manufacturing, Armaments, Motor Vehicle and Project Management Industries. He was the Group Quality Manager for 12 years of the largest Construction Organisation in the Southern Hemisphere.

Currently he is the chief executive of four organisations, which specialise in enabling organisations to gain the competitive edge by gathering collective intelligence, development and deployment of strategic objectives driven by a Continuous Improvement attitude. The services available to organisations include coaching facilitating and training skills, which includes the implementation of ISO, OHSAS & AMS Management Systems an extensive range of Training Materials, Publications, Integration Software and the strategic application of the South African Excellence Model.

To provide the ideal setting for strategic workshops and training QSi Holdings have built their own executive conference facility in Midrand. The Blue Hills Conference Centre provides a modern purpose designed facility in a country atmosphere with spectacular scenery. The centre’s primary focus is towards executive workshops.

He is a founder member of the (1974) South African Society for Quality of which he is a Fellow, and past Director he served as vice Chairman and Chairman for six years of The Gauteng Branch during that time he also served in an executive capacity on the South African Quality Institute Council.

He was Chairman of the first national conference held by SAQI in 1991.

1992 he served on the panel of Judges for the United Kingdom National Quality Award for Service Industries. In 1997 the inception of the South African Excellence Model took place. David’s organisation provided training to the first assessors and he also took part in the award process as an assessor.

David has served over the years on a number of working committees such as:

The SABS ISO Committees on Management Systems for Quality and Environment.

2001 he was an advisor to the South African Parliamentary committee on Medical Waste Management

He is a recipient of the Deneys Zeederberg Memorial Award presented by the SASQ in recognition of an outstanding contribution to the promotion of Quality Management in South Africa.

For the past 28 years he has been directly involved in the Quality Sciences known as Total Quality. He has lectured on the subject in numerous National and International Conferences, has had many papers published on the subject and appeared on SABC 2 television programme Crux broadcasting the work he is doing in SA. He was also featured on a TV show 3 Talk on the subject of overcoming your fears that inhibit your full potential from being realised.

He is known in the profession as The Quality Evangelist due to his passionate and highly motivational delivery of his subject. David has developed one of the most dynamic and inspirational presentations known as “South Africa Soaring with the Eagles”. This unique live and multi media presentation involves the biggest, most powerful and fastest birds of prey interacting with the audience and brings about an unforgettable experience that is remembered for years to come.
